Project manager-ecosystem services

Wissal Selmi completed her phD in Environmental Geography from Strasbourg University (Laboratoire Image Ville Environnement: LIVE) in October 2014 about assessing ecosystem services produced by urban vegetation in Strasbourg city. This work focused on interaction between biodiversity and human society. She implemented monitoring protocol to understand urban biodiversity functioning in lawns in response to human and environmental factors. She also suggested the application of numerical model to quantify the potential of urban forest to produce ecosystem services based on the study of its structure. In 2015 she worked as a part of the European project "Oui-Biomass" as postdoctoral research in LIVE laboratory. With the collaboration of the air quality monitoring agency (Atmo-Est) she elaborated emission scenarios to assess the impact bio-energy production and consumption on air pollution emissions and air quality. Today, she is working in private consultancy office in Belguim as a project manager. She focuses on developing and applying ecosystem services assessment tools in order to provide information to stakeholders and help them to manage sustainably urban vegetation and optimize its ecosystem services. She is also working on mapping supply and demand of ecosystem services.
