Francis Macary is an Agronomist, PhD in environmental sciences and Researcher in Agriculture & Environment at the Bordeaux Center of the French Public Institute of Sciences and Technologies for the Environment and Agriculture (Irstea). His principal research topic concerns the assessment of the environmental performance of agricultural activities at different spatial organization levels: environmental risk assessment according to agricultural practices focusing on the transfers of nitrogen, pesticides and total suspended solids on water, sustainability on territories. He uses different agro-environmental assessment methods, like spatial modelling using GIS and remote sensing, and also multicriteria decision aiding methods, for the public environmental policies, at several spatial scales. He is an Expert of the Agroecology transition at French Ministry of Agriculture. He has participated in several national and European research projects, like PhytoCOTE for the LabEx COTE, whom he is the coordinator.
