Nature seen by economists: an overview - Lauriane MOUYSSET

Last update Thursday 07 May 2015

Ecology, biodiversity, ecosystems, different concepts which are now quite common. However, despite an increasing media and policy attention, the biodiversity loss is ongoing. From the first environmental studies in the eighties to the recent emergence of the ecological economics, economists have proposed several frameworks and methods to take into account ecosystems within economics. In this talk, I will present an overview of these different frameworks underpinned by concrete examples. Understanding advantages and limits of each method highlights the complexity of this challenge.
